December 16, 1957...Historic American Bandstand Clip On this day in 1957, Gene Vincent performed Dance To The Bop on American Bandstand. That I know of, this is the first archival video of Dick Clark as the host of the ABC network show, but this was not the regular afternoon version. In 1957, December 16 was a Monday and I think this is the very last Monday night prime time version of American Bandstand which ran at 7:30. The Monday primetime experiment only lasted from October 7 till December 16, 1957. Starting February 15, 1958, ABC gave Clark a Saturday night time slot for The Dick Clark Saturday Night Beech-Nut Show, which originated from the Little Theater in Manhattan.
