December 2, 1973, 40 years ago: Monica Seles is born in Novi Sad, in what is now Serbia. At age 19, she had won 9 tennis majors, and was on her way to seriously challenging Martina Navratilova as the best ever. And then... She would only win one more. But she seems to have recovered emotionally. What I dont understand is how she got an accent that sounds half NYawk, half Midwestern country. Maybe its a Florida accent? A lot of tennis players live and train there, due to the climate.
