One of the highlight of this month of celebration is the block screening premiere the award winning film ILOILO at Shangrila-Cineplex , Shangri-La Edsa mounted by the inter-agency committee. The movie is the Philippines official entry for this year Oscar the hollywood ultimate movie award giving body (USA). The movie was entirely give us a glimpse of the family , society and educational culture of Singapore. It give us a total picture on the plight of Filipina maid and his role as a surrogate mother on her Singaporean boss. As mention by the principal of the school where the boy enrolled knowledge with out discipline is of no value to the society , before her mandatory slashing out ( by a cane) the student for committing a brawl punishable by a disciplinary expulsion . In the film it never forget to include the very vision of the Singaporean educational system like preparing the young to be a contributor in the over all development of the country , by verbalizing the schools core vision for prosperity, happiness and progress of the country. Though the official message of the movie is to highlight the role of maid played by the Filipino migrant workers , it taught us (Filipino) otherwise the value of education and how Singaporean molded their children in the educational systems capable enough to produce a conscientious leaders which probably the main reasons why their society were able to catch up in a short period of time from a poor, to an emerging economy , then to a developing and industrial state , then later on to become a first world country by standard of living, truly deserved to be emulated by the other Asean countries like the Philippines.
