Defoliating is no longer alone as an environmental issue. Another source of tiny plastic beads poisoning waters has emerged in the form of an exfoliating agent in cosmetics and other consumer products. We have previously discussed the sea of plastics in midst of the Pacific Ocean and how the continuous grinding due to wave action is producing small plastic particles and killing fish through ingestion. Lake Erie and other great lakes are also experiencing the same effect from discarded plastics.
