Delhi Public School, R.K. Puram hosted the third edition of the Inter-DPS IT Festival -“ IT@ Cutting Edge 2013” on Saturday, 20th July 2013. The event was a huge success and garnered a massive participation from DPS schools all over the globe. An online cryptic hunt – “DeCryptonite v2.0” was held on 17-18 July 2013. It received 5421 registrations from 52 schools across the world. The top performers cracked 15 mind-boggling cryptic levels. Over 220 participants from 38 schools under the aegis of the DPS Society participated in the various on-site events. The Director of DPS Society, Mrs. Renu Mital, was the chief guest. The Principal, Dr. D.R. Saini welcomed everyone. Also present on the occasion were the Vice Principal, Mrs.Shobha Mehta; and the Superviser and Head of the Computer Science department, Mr.Mukesh Kumar who coordinated the event with his team of teachers. No competitive event was held on-site. Numerous events related to IT were held in the school premises. The web designing course was conducted by the Exun alumni – Trijeet Mukhopadhyay. The Exun president – Akshay Dadhwal took charge of Game Programming Logic, Sibesh Kar, another Exun president conducted Graphics and Animation, Robotics was handled by Himanjal Sharma . A mock parliament session was held on the topic – “Impact of Internet on modern forms of learning” which was conducted by the team of Exun alumni – Adideva Sekhri and Rohan Nagpal. Mr. Mukesh Kumar held an interactive session of Python Programming for the visiting teachers. The Principal, Dr. D.R. Saini expressed the view that information technology keeps changing by the second and we should ‘keep ourselves up-to date with the latest technology and learn to adjust and accept each change to keep pace with the world.’ He quoted the example of ‘telegraphs’ which recently went out of service. The Vice Principal, Mrs. Shobha Mehta, encouraged the students to share information and learn from each other. Mrs. Renu Mital thanked the Principal, the computer department and the computer club “ExunClan” of DPS R.K.Puram, for conceptualizing and executing the event. She stated that DPS Society is one big family with different hues and colours completing a beautiful rainbow. She was of the opinion that children should be given proper knowledge on Cyber crime and should be “Cyber Literate”. At the end of the fruitful day, all the participants were awarded certificates. It indeed was a Saturday filled with excitement, creativity and knowledge – a new learning process for everyone. lnexun/itcuttingedge-2013/
