Delia Headshot Web Delia Thumbadoo Birthing Gods Purpose On Earth Pregnancy as us mothers know is a happy expectant time, but as full term approaches, as baby locks into position to pass through the birth canal, labour begins. These birth pangs set in motion an event that can never be retracted, it will worsen and will continue at more frequent intense intervals until baby is born. Delivery brings relief, brings new life, and beaming smiles and happy tears replace the discomfort and the pain the birthing process brings. Im reminded of Jesus warnings to watch for specific signs leading up to His return. These signs are likened to birth pangs, Scripture translates sorrows as birth pangs In the original Greek the literal translation is travail a term used to describe child birth. As these increase in frequency and intensity, we know that we are in a birthing process and like natural childbirth cannot be reversed but will worsen until His Word is accomplished, until prophecy is fulfilled. And there will be signs in the sun, in the moon, and in the stars; and on the earth distress of nations, with perplexity, the sea and the waves roaring; mens hearts failing them from fear and the expectation of those things which are coming on the earth, for the powers of the heavens will be shaken. Then they will see the Son of Man coming in a cloud with power and great glory. Now when these things begin to happen, look up and lift up your heads, because your redemption draws near. Luke 21:25-28 It shouldnt take much for us to realise that our world has spiralled out of control. Never before has the momentum of turmoil and uncertainty unveiled at such cataclysmic proportions. Everything seems to be melting down, giving up at the seams and notably there are no solutions, no vaccines, and no resolve. Were fighting a range of battles and wars leaving world leaders grappling, scrambling and scratching their heads for answers. When these things happen, we look up, we lift up our heads. Where shall our help come from? Our Help comes from the Lord, maker of Heaven and Earth. As Disciples of Jesus our Hope is in Him. He is the God of all Hope and though war may rage around us, in Him we must continue to Trust. The steadfast of mind you will keep in perfect peace, because he trusts in you, for in God the Lord we have an everlasting rock! Isaiah 26:2-4. I recall a birth in a manger in a little town of Judea. Mary was about her own plans when her God ordained destiny knocked, completely throwing her off-course. She soon realised through conviction and unction of the Holy Spirit, that what was required of her was far greater and significant even though she could hardly comprehend the enormity of the long hard road ahead of her and Joseph. But God will always qualify and equip the called, the chosen and those who surrender to His plans and purposes. We too may be about our plans our careers our livelihoods but when God tugs at us and realigns the course of our journey then friends it is best to relent and submit to His Divine route. Marys decision changed the course of History forever. She birth a Saviour, the Messiah, Emmanuel, Our Redeemer and Hope of Glory. Each of us is pregnant with the Purposes and Plans that God had placed in us when He laid the foundations of the earth - when He formed us and knew our frame from within our mothers wombs, He knew then that you and I were groomed for this time in History. When Jesus warned about these times, He encouraged us to watch for the signs and to remain prayerful and vigilante. But more than this we have a God given mandate to go into all the world and share this Hope of Glory. With the technology of our time, spreading the Gospel to the far reaches of the earth, is attainable, and easier. Time is of the essence and we cannot afford to remain unconcerned and unaffected. He lends us breath to be His voice, His Hands, His Feet and His vessels of clay. But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth. Acts 1:8.
