Delia Wu has nominated me to share some bible verses that ive read recently hhmmm. Sorry there was a delay ahah. 1. So to keep me from becoming conceited because of the surpassing greatness of the revelations,[a] a thorn was given me in the flesh, a messenger of Satan to harass me, to keep me from becoming conceited. (2Corinthians 12:7) 2. So now I say, I will not drive them out before you, but they shall become thorns in your sides, and their gods shall be a snare to you.(Judges 2:3) 3. And the people of Israel again did what was evil in the sight of the Lord after Ehud died. (Judges 4:1) 4. Again he began to teach beside the sea. And a very large crowd gathered about him, so that he got into a boat and sat in it on the sea, and the whole crowd was beside the sea on the land. (Mark 4:1) I guess a few insights into why i choose these particular verses rather than some other verse in the chapter that I read. 1. I chose 2Cornithians 12:7 because obviously I read it recently but this verse perplexes me and it caused me to look through the bible to find in what contexts the word thorn is used. It also make me thing about what are the thorns that keep me from being conceited. 2. Judges 2:3 is another place that talks about thorns in the bible and at uni were going through the book of Judges. At this time Israel has again forgotten the God that has guided them and watched after them time and time again. The nation Israel were instructed to drive out all other nations from their land but they failed to do so because they did not trust God. God like a good father decides to discipline Israel by allowing the nations that they were instructed to drive out, to stay and be a thorn in their side much like Paul. 3. Later in the narrative we find out that Israel very much unlike Paul do not see the error of their ways and continue in a downward spiral in disobeying God. At this time God has tried to help his chosen nation Israel by sending Judges to save from the hands of their enemies who conquer and enslave them and also to guide the nation towards a relationship with God. We learn through all of Judges that when one of these Judges dies then Israel fall away from God again. There seems to be no hope. 4. But Ive recently also been reading Mark in bible study at church and weve been learning about Jesus who is Gods son and also God incarnate. He comes down to earth making him as a man teaching, healing, being a judge but most of all he came to proclaim the good news. Many came during that time and gathered around him eager to be healed and to question and to learn from him because he spoke with an authority like no other. As we go further into the recount that Mark gives, we find out that Jesus is a new and better judge who fulfills what the judges in Judges couldnt do, hes a judge that doesnt die and is here to guide not only the nation Israel but the world. Fascinating stuff if you want to find out more about this Jesus that claims to be so fulfilling or you want to read everything i posted in its context. Go to this website ( https://biblegateway/passage/?search=Mark%201&version=ESV )which is just a web version of the bible or you can come ask me some questions. :D hhhmm I guess Ill nominate Kevin Nguyen, Nathan Xing, Benjamin Shao, Roy Young, Louie Zhang, Jessica Zeng, Renata Teng, Harry Driscoll, Hong Liang, Genevieve Brook, Steven Huang
