Deloitte confirms 1,000 new jobs in Lake Mary! Paul Brinkmann 11:19 am, August 4, 2014 Deloitte, the world’s largest accounting firm, confirmed Monday that its Deloitte Consulting arm is opening a new tech center in Lake Mary, with 1,000 new jobs. Seminole County and the City of Lake Mary are planning to vote on a $1.7 million incentive package to bring the jobs. The company had been hiring for hundreds of positions recently, and it had made no secret that they were for a new Lake Mary location. It even showed up at the recent Upstart Expo job fair at East End Market. The announcement adds to growing momentum in tech hiring locally. Verizon built a new finance hub in Lake Mary earlier this year, with more than 1,000 jobs. The new Deloitte location is called the U.S. Delivery Center, 901 International Parkway. The jobs will be added over four years with a capital investment of $24.6 million. For open positions now, check the Deloitte jobs website for Orlando at jobs.deloitte/orlando-jobs. The 130,000-square-foot facility will include software development, system analyst and information technology positions. The director of the center will be Deloitte Consulting’s Bert Naquin. He said the Orlando area was an “optimal location” due to the area’s skilled labor force in business, human resources and technology, along with proximity to local schools. Deloitte LLP already employs 877 Florida professionals in five locations and recruits from 16 of the state’s colleges and universities. Lake Mary Mayor David Mealor said in a news release, “We’re proud that Lake Mary/Seminole County is becoming a location of choice for firms that want to consolidate their high-value operations in one place.” A news release from the Orlando Economic Development Commission said it was also involved in the project, along with University of Central Florida, CareerSource Central Florida and Florida High Tech Corridor Council. Besides accounting, Deloitte is a broad professional services firm. It often ranks as the largest such firm in the world. Deloitte Consulting employs about 23,000 professionals.
