Democrats are whining about the low turn out of their core base last week, thus they blame them for the loses they took. Well, voter participation is the obvious key to the success of any political campaign. But there are several other things to consider as the causes for so many Democrats ducking this years primary election. Now, To many the so-called voter suppression is an issue and I know it was the clear intent of the Republicans to hinder as many opposition voters as possible and their voter obstruction scheme apparently worked, but it distresses me to know that people were insulted, beaten, went to jail and even died to win the right for all of us, including this generation to vote without fear of jail or death, so I do not accept voter suppression as a major reason for anyone not voting. It is our duty and respect to those brave women, men and children who suffered the consequences of vicious biting dogs, powerful water hoses and hateful police who beat a path to the voting booth so we could vote and be treated as a human being. So, to me voter suppression is not an excuse and I know to Congressman John Lewis who suffered gravely in his fight to achieve voting rights for the disenfranchised stands in bewilderment at anyone who would not find away around any barricade to vote, he did. I have said for years that registering people to vote is far easier that getting them to the polls. Democrats ran away from the great success story they could have told about the President, they somehow believed that if they distant themselves from the President, based on lies Republicans were telling on him, especially about the ACA they could lure some right wing voters. I knew better and said so, as did others I spoke with that dissing the President was a bad political strategy and finally, Democrats for some reason did not ask for their core base votes, very little literature was sent out, so I hope this a lesson learned and not a mistake to be repeated, as the results will be the same.
