Demons rally to defeat Tahlequah Sequoyah Bouse returns 2 kickoffs for scores in 47-33 win By LARRY OWEN Times sports editor TAHLEQUAH - The Beggs Golden Demons improved to 2-0 this past Friday night with a hard-fought 47-33 victory over a very tough and talented Tahlequah Sequoyah Indian squad. The Demons overcame an pair of 6-run deficits and got a couple of kickoff returns by junior Lane Bouse to walk away with the double-digit decision over the host Indians. Bouse returned kickoffs 91 and 80 yards, respectively that would tie the game on both occasions. After the first two games of the season were on the road, the Demons will open the home portion of their 2013 schedule this Friday night, as they welcome the Hilldale Hornets, who are 1-1 on the year. Kickoff for Friday’s home game against Hilldale is set for 7:30 p.m. at Golden Demon Stadium. Tahlequah Sequoyah opened the scoring in the first quarter, as Tiron Rattlinggourd returned an interception 20 yards. The PAT kick was no good to give the Indians the early 6-0 advantage. On the ensuing kickoff, Bouse would haul in the kick at his 9-yard line. After finding an open seam, the speedy Bouse would turn on the jets and race into the end zone for the 91-yard kickoff return. The Demons’ extra point try was no good to leave the game tied at 6-6. Beggs would take over the lead when Tyler Marr, who finished 21 of 32 passing for 243 yards and 2 TDs, connected with Shaliamere Rentie on a 39-yard TD pass. The run attempt on the conversion try was no good, putting the Demons in front by six, 12-6. The Demons would close out the first quarter scoring on a 12-yard pass from Marr to Dolee Wolf. Blaine Harvey connected on the PAT to increase the Beggs lead to 19-6 at the end of the first frame. The lone score in the second quarter would come when Tahlequah Sequoyah’s Zach Parrish found Jacob Sevler on a 15-yard pass play. The PAT kick was no good, sending the teams into the intermission with the Demons ahead by seven, 19-12. In the third quarter, Tahlequah Sequoyah tied the score at 19-19 when Nick Kingfisher returned a Marr pass 49 yards for a defensive score, followed by a Hunter Crown successful PAT kick. The host Indians would regain the lead at 25-19 on a 49-yard pass from Parrish to Kaisan Green. Bouse would return the ensuing kickoff 80 yards to paydirt to knot the score at 25-25, then Sam Stamper put the Demons back in front, 27-25, by running in the 2-point conversion. Marr would make it a 33-25 contest with a 1-yard QB keeper to end the third quarter scoring, then Tahlequah Sequoyah would make it a 33-33 game in the final quarter when Parrish found Kingfisher on a 27-yard pass, then the duo hooked up on the conversion. Kerry Daniels would put Beggs on top for good later in the fourth with a 15-yard run, followed by a successful PAT kick by Harvey for a 40-33 Demon lead. Wolf would put the finishing touches on the double-digit win for the Demons with a 4-yard run. Harvey would once again make good on the extra point try to put the Beggs squad further on top, 47-33. Tahlequah Sequoyah threatened to cut into the double-digit lead, but Bouse would haul in an interception to clinch the game the Demons.
