Denali wanted to share a video with you:) If you dont remember, Denali is our pup who was used as a bait dog and was then thrown into a trash can, battered and broken, at only four months old. Someone found him, and he wound up at animal control, desperately needing rescue. He needed to be saved, and we desperately wanted to save him. Whenever we decide to rescue a dog, we take a serious look at our finances. We analyze bills, costs and other items to ensure that we can provide on the promises we make these homeless pups; promises to keep them healthy, safe and loved until they find their forever home. So, when we bring in a pup like Denali, we expect extra costs, and we try our best to plan accordingly. Although we know that most of our rescued dogs will cost FLDR more than what we charge in adoption fees...we dont often talk about the impact that a very sick dog can make on our ability to help others. Dogs like Denali dont get extra time at animal control - they simply dont have the space - so when the request for rescue goes out, we generally are working on a very tight time frame. Thanks to our awesome team we were able to spring Denali and rush him straight to the ER clinic for emergency surgery to save his life, as infection was setting into his open wounds. Denali is now a permanent foster pup at FLDR, as he will need medical care his whole life, but his forever-foster parents Mike and Lori are happy to love on him and tend to him. Due to emergencies and special needs pups, plus our regular hot mess rescue pups like Gus and Guinevere, we have spent over $13k on vet bills in the last month. While our winter raffle did help, it did not provide the necessary funding we had hoped for. End of the year donations were 67% less than 2013 too:( Without replenishing these funds, we will need to slow rescuing more dogs. And we simply do not want to stomach that thought. So, today, we need your help. Can you spare a few dollars to help FLDR today? The cost of your morning coffee will allow us to do what we love...save lives. If ALL of our fans donated just the cost of a cup of coffee, we could rescue pups for the next year! However, FB doesnt serve our postings to all of our fans, generally less than 5% on average, so please, please, please share or like or donate - simply use any of the paypal links on our website, floridalittledogrescue - or do all three! On behalf of those of us at FLDR, Denali, Star, Ace, Lola and those still awaiting rescue - thank you!
