Denise Cordova Rangel removed the stress about whether anyone - TopicsExpress

Denise Cordova Rangel removed the stress about whether anyone would buy my book by being the first person to purchase it. The stress was gone, but the giddy elation I felt had me dreaming, all night, of people reading my book. In my dream, I waited with bated breath for their reaction, but they just kept reading. When I awoke this morning, the elation surrounded me in a glow of warmth. But, as in my dream, I fet the anxiety for human approval in the bated breath still caught in my chest. I let it out, and, let it go. I can wait to see how my stories speak to the heart of another. I can wait for them to be snuggled under the stars of an Arizona sky, like my son Kyal Singh , before they settle in to read of my food journey. From that 8 year old girl with pigtails who rejected roti for a peanut butter and jelly sandwich to the wife trying to please her husband well through the gift of food. I can wait for them to fit my stories into their life experiences as they mull over the differences and similarities between their journey and mine. I can wait to meet the child who baked their first loaf of bread after reading about mine. I can wait for all life has in store, because by the love youve shown today I know that there is so much more. Im exhausted after a full day but grateful that you all pledged $415 in just one day! With a grateful heart I sleep tonight with love as my pillow. Love from those in my community. From the close friends Ive found through a shared passion for food to the complete strangers whose belief in pure food moved them to express, in a monetary way, their belief that were not broken just bent and we can learn to cook again. Thanks for sharing, thanks for caring, thanks for daring to believe.
