Denunciation of Obama’s Abuses of Power Filed in House of Representatives in June--H. Res. 652 On June 26, 2014, Randy Weber of Texas and eight other Republican members of the House of Representatives filed a resolution, H.Res. 652, titled “Condemning the President of the United States and the executive branch of Government for continuous actions that violate the laws and Constitution of the United States.” The bill was referred to the House Judiciary Committee. Three additional co-sponsors signed-on to the bill on July 8. The resolution recites a list of “Whereas” paragraphs of Obama’s unilateral actions violating the Constitution and the laws of the U.S., some of them conservative hobby-horses, some of broader concern: changes in the Affordable Care Act, non-enforcement of the Defense of Marriage Act, non-enforcement of drug laws, the “recess appointments” to the NLRB, refusal to comply with a Congressional subpoena in the Fast and Furious investigation, changes to immigration laws, waiving workplace requirements for welfare recipients, IRS targeting of organizations because of their political or religious beliefs, failing to notify Congress of the transfer of Guantanamo detainees in the prisoner-swap. After citing the Constitution’s requirement that the President “shall take care that the Laws be faithfully executed,” the resolution concludes with what can only be understood as a “warning shot across the bow” issued to the President: “Whereas the House of Representatives reiterates its authority to impeach any president for failing to faithfully enforce the laws of the land or for violating the law: Now, therefore, be it Resolved, That the House of Representatives-- (1) condemns the President and the executive branch of Government for actions and acts that are beyond the clearly defined laws of the United States; (2) calls on the President and the executive branch of Government to adhere to the Constitution and halt all unlawful and illegal actions which circumvent Congress and violate the Constitution; and (3) calls on the President and the executive branch of Government to respect the constitutionally defined separation of powers.” The co-sponsors of the resolution are: John Culbertson (R-Tex.), Pete Olson (R-Tex.), Ralph Hall ( R-Tex.), Michael Burgess (R-Tex.), Don Young (R-Alaska), David Schweikert (R-Ariz.), Pete Sessions (R-Tex.), Randy Neugebauer (R-Tex.), Louie Gohmert (R-Tex.), John Carter (R-Tex.), Chris Stewart (R-Utah). larouchepac/node/31342
