Departed Wickieup this morning about 6am. As I approached the Kaiser springs Canyon, I decided to go for it. It is about a 4 mile round trip hike. A fairly easy hike along a Sandy wash. Occasional boulder hopping at times. Some beautiful narrows to hike thru. Kaiser Springs Canyon is a dry wash, until you reach the hot spring. There is a hole in the rock wall that has 100 degree water flowing out of it. From this point on, the wash has a small flow to it. It also flows underground. Very soft sand in spots and even a little quicksand. These spots are generally easy to recognize, if you know what to look for. :) a short hike farther down creek and it dumps into Burro Creek. Which was flowing rather strong. Lots of water there. The water is very warm at the confluence. But fairly cold just upstream. As would be expected. Very cool hike and worth the detour. This is an off trail/remote wilderness hike. It begins just below the Hwy 93 bridge over the canyon. Just climb down and hike. Only about a 1.5 hour hike round trip. I had cool shade the entire hike! Back to the truck by 8am and back on the road again.
