Department of Computer Science & IT, Bhaderwah Campus, University of Jammu, proposes to hold one day regional seminar on ‘Information Technology, Computer Research and development – emerging paradigms in modern world’ on November 16, 2013 The main purpose of organizing this regional seminar is to bring the luminaries from Industry and Academia under one roof to deliberate upon the uses of Information Technology trends in the contemporary Academic and Software Industry World. The seminar attempts to demystify the gray areas under the scope of IT and Computer Research. Regional Seminar attempts to provide an opportunity to explore new vista of Information Technology needed in new IT era. Information Technology is affecting nearly every facet of human endeavour, and that effect is to speed up, to simplify the process of work, of innovation, of scientific exploration. This seminar will be covering the topics related to IT applications, its challenges, opportunities and security etc. The major objectives of the seminar would be to: 1. Understanding and analyzing various dimensions of Information Technology trends which are used in decision making in current IT scenario. 2. Finding out major issues and challenges faced by the software organizations in practicing Information Technology in the present scenario. 3. Suggesting various technical tools and application imperatives for developing Programs/Projects ensuring their sustainability in competitive Software industry; and 4. To make students aware about the recent Information Technology trends in practice nowadays like Cloud Computing, Information Systems and its different applications. Eligibility criteria for participation / target groups: The researchers, academicians, scientists, scholars, consultants, technocrats, environmentalists, designers, planners, associates from Software Industry, State and Central administrative departments, Remote sensing and GIS cells, National Informatics Centre, and last but not the least authorities from State government. Themes of the seminar: The major themes of the seminar would be: 1) Online learning and sustainable strategy 2) Cyber Terrorism 3) Mobile and Network Security 4) Cloud Strategy 5) Transforming Institution’s business 6) Database Organization, Recovery and Security 7) Programmable Logic 8) IT applications, its challenges and opportunities 9) Emerging computer technologies in environmental monitoring The subthemes shall include: - MOOCs - Cloud Computing - Mobile Phone Cloning - Phishing Technology - Ethical Hacking - XML Encryption - Ipv6 - The Next Generation Protocol - Quantum Information Technology - M-Commerce - VHDL - Blu Ray Disc - 4G Wireless Systems - Socket Programming - Social Media Privacy - ZigBee Technology - Electronic Banking - 3-D passwords for more secure authentication - Andriod Technology - Mobile WiMAX - WIFI Technology - Biometric Technology - Plastic Memory - Data Compression Techniques - RAID Technology - Mobile Databases - Linux Networking - Remote sensing and GIS application in natural resource management - Literature in the wired world - Applications of Computer and Information Technology in Life Sciences Tentative schedule of the seminar The seminar proceedings shall be held in four technical sessions to be held at parallel venues, as per the following schedule: Inaugural Session (Hall-A) Technical session - 1 and 3 (Hall –A) Technical session - 2 and 4 (Hall – B) Valedictory session (Hall – A) (With two tea breaks and one lunch break) Plenary speakers and expert lectures: The eminent experts of international repute shall be invited for the plenary talks and expert lectures. In addition, the professors of eminence from reputed universities and research institutes and organizations like, GNDU, Central University, Kashmir University etc. shall be invited. Outcome of the Seminar: The recommendations and outcome of the detailed deliberations of the seminar would be of immense help for the student and scholar communities in particular, for that matter they shall be exposed to the major trends and techniques being adopted in the IT sector in modern world across the globe. It shall be a motivating platform for all technocrats and researchers to examine hands on the emerging paradigms of computer science and develop amongst them a high degree of confidence by developing new programs and software in the fields very new to them. The seminar is expected to deliberate on few untouched and non-conventional sectors of IT, which is expected to generate new interest among the students of MCA and would virtually press them to select their project dissertations on these topics.
