Nagpatupad ng moratorium sa pagpapadala ng household service workers (HSWs) sa Singapore ang isang grupo ng local recruiters sa bansa. Ayon sa grupong Association of Licensed Recruitment Agencies for Singapore (ALRAS), nagpalabas na ng direktiba ang kanilang grupo sa lahat ng kanilang mga miyembro na itigil ang deployment ng Filipino HSWs sa Singapore epektibo kahapon, Setyembre 2. Ang hakbang ng grupo, ani Lucita Sermonia, ALRAS president, ay bilang pagtutol sa pangongolekta ng placement fees ng kanilang mga counterpart sa Singapore. “We say no to placement fee collections that are done through deductions from the monthly salaries of the workers,” pahayag ng grupo. Iginiit pa ng grupo ng mga recruiter na isinusulong ng kanilang hanay ang ilang reporma sa pag-eempleyo ng mga HSW kabilang ang pagpapatigil sa pangongolekta ng placement fees. “We are telling our counterparts in Singapore about the need to adhere to Philippine laws and rules on overseas employment which prohibit the collection of placement fees from household service workers,” pahayag ni Sermonia. ___
