Depression... It just breaks my heart. This is an illness that affects nearly 1 out of every 17 Americans, and affects 1 out of every 5 families. This disease is chronic in nature, and can only be controlled... not cured. It is not consistent in either symptoms or treatments. Controlling depression can be a lifelong struggle and much of the time can only be accomplished through therapy, medication and by developing coping skills. People with this illness can be treated like modern-day lepers. They can be or have been, ridiculed, stereotyped and misrepresented in society. No matter how skilled or educated they may be, the dark cloud of this disease follows them everywhere.. I would love to get involved in something that raises more awareness for people that struggle with this disease and hopefully reach out to someone struggling before its too late! Rest in peace Robin Williams :/
