Depression and Robin Williams: The world lost its best laugh maker - TopicsExpress

Depression and Robin Williams: The world lost its best laugh maker today. And it is a reality check for each of us. Millions of people suffer from depression in one form or another. I know I have, and people who know me would have never guessed it. Each day I break the cycle of depression by giving thanks to the lord for everything He has laid before me. By giving thanks for each and every thing, by showing gratitude to people I dont even know, and by giving out of my heart I keep the focus off of me. But it is not just a monthly thing, or a daily thing, it is a minute-by-precious-minute thing. But here is my challenge in a world that sometimes throws just too much at us: Reach Out, Use Facebook, Message Me, Message your Friends, Talk to Someone....Anyone. Dont let the angst of a world that wants us defeated to defeat you. Every time I post out here on Facebook, I take it seriously. When I write about the world and what is happening around us, thats knowledge that dies away. When I write about baseball or history, it is knowledge that dies away. But I will tell you what NEVER dies away - and that is the power of LOVE. These words of ENCOURAGEMENT are taken seriously. I write with the hope and the passion so that we all are inspired to feed one another words of hope. Robin Williams took his own life today -- (at least thats the news as of now) He neednt have done so. His own pain was so great that he could not possibly see the pain his death would cause others. We can only learn from this if we are to really grasp how enormous his loss will be. What we learned is to reach out, ask for prayer, (as I have asked from each of you) seek wisdom and get a shot of faith that can get you to the next day, and on the road to overcoming the things that look and feel huge but end up being smaller and harmless once we stare down our demons and kick em down, down, down. But you cannot do it alone - we all need one another. Suffering is not an individual sport my friends. We ALL have suffered at one time or another. Its what makes us aware of ourselves and who we are, and who we are created to be. The Prophet Jeremiah had depression. He was among the most sour of prophets. When God told him he was to preach the good news to the people. Jeremiah was sure God had picked the wrong man. He challenged God, and told him that he was a stutterer and unsure of himself. He told God he didnt want to do it because he was sure he couldnt spread such a positive word given his well known demeanor. ..Who are you to say NO to me? God said to Jeremiah. And then seeing his heart and how unsure he was, God told him...Behold, I knew you in the womb before you were yet born and I formed you with my own hand and I have sanctified you and set you apart to do great things. ------- Be Blessed Everyone
