Depression, despondency, 80-90% chance of storms for the Springsteen concert tomorrow evening. So there is a decent chance I sit there 12 hours or more and dont get to see Springsteen. Rock and Roll Gods, why are you forsaking me - I never listen to Nashville Crap or Soft Rock? What have I done to displease you? I beseech you, part the rain clouds, use the unholy Trinity as your instrument to smote the Philistines and drive them back. I will hold the umbrella for Bruce. Journeys like this are always about more than getting there. The first time I saw Bruce in the summer of 78, it was in San Antonio - we drove down from Austin. I didnt even know Springsteen was a poet and an American, rock and roll, storytelling genius. About the third or fourth song in Bruce did Racing in the Streets and I said, thats it. I was hooked and over the last 30 plus years, I have listened to him tell all of the stories, American stories, in so many ways, it isnt just entertaining, it is uplifting like a gospel choir and truly a work of art, every time he takes the stage. If I get to see Bruce tomorrow night, it will be close to the 20th time as I add them up. But as long as Bruce will climb up on Roy Brittens piano and pump his fist in the air on Badlands or take the stage by himself with an acoustic guitar and a harmonica, Ill be there to see what Bruce has to say. https://youtube/watch?v=L_XilxdwTgc
