Dept. of Unexpectedly Deep “It is the present that is the foreign country, or rather the alien planet, and as we get older we feel increasingly exiled from that homeland of the past where everything felt more vivid and real.” I enjoyed this movie and was thinking it’s a zany smorgasbord of crazy jokes of all kinds but not really about anything, and then I read this reviewer’s comment, and it is right on. Not many actors in a comedy would let you see the “character” lines that age has etched on their faces, the way Simon Pegg does here. Also, I couldn’t have been more impressed with Nick Frost’s fury, his seriousness and anger, it’s an entire movie turn that hits as hard as that one scene Kristen Wiig had in Bridesmaids, when she’s pulled over by Chris O’Dowd and confesses that her boyfriend’s copped, her bakery is gone bust, that look of misery. This is a good, good movie. Also, oh gosh, Rosamund Pike...
