Deputies go beyond the call of duty Media Release: October 29, 2014 On Sunday afternoon, Deputies Jonathan Lozada and Jacob Curby responded to a medical call at a gas station located at 100 43rd Avenue SW. Marty Setchell (87) told deputies she was having trouble locating her keys and appeared confused. Deputies Lozada and Curby recognized that Mrs. Setchell needed a medical evaluation based on her responses to questions. Mrs. Setchell could not remember where her daughter lived or how to contact her. Mrs. Setchell told deputies that she had been grocery shopping at Publix prior to losing her keys at the gas station. They observed milk, eggs, and other cold groceries in the back seat of Mrs. Setchells vehicle. Indian River County Fire Rescue arrived to evaluate Mrs. Setchell and located her car keys in her pocket. The decision was made to transport Mrs. Setchell to the hospital for further evaluation. Deputy Curby, with permission from his supervisor, drove Mrs. Setchells car to her home in Lakewood Park while Deputy Lozada followed in his patrol car. The two deputies entered Mrs. Setchells home and put her groceries away. Meanwhile, Indian River County Sheriffs Office Public Safety Dispatch located and made contact with Mrs. Setchells daughter, Jackie Archibald. Mrs. Archibald responded to the Indian River Medical Center to meet with her mother. Later, Deputy Jonathan Lozada met Mrs. Archibald at the Indian River Medical Center to return her mothers keys. Mrs. Archibald was grateful for Deputies Lozada and Curby and their quick reaction to the situation. Indian River County Sheriffs Office Sergeant James Hyde, supervisor for both Deputy Lozada and Curby, stated, It is great to see the next generation of deputies going above and beyond the call of duty to help people. I am so proud of them and what they did for Mrs. Setchell.
