Deputy Involved Shooting - Brooksville Hernando County deputies are currently on scene of a deputy involved shooting. Deputies responded to a call regarding a possible arson at a residence on California Street. A male subject called HCSO advising that he was being evicted and was presently setting the residence on fire. Initial reports indicate that, upon arrival, deputies were confronted by a male subject who was extremely aggressive and the situation escalated to the point deputies were forced to engage the suspect with deadly force. The male has been airlifted to a trauma center with life threatening injuries. The Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) will review the use of deadly force and will now take over this investigation. The incident is also under review by HCSO Internal Affairs.
