Derek Jeter, Masahiro Tanaka fuel Yankees 7-1 rout of White Sox ... The White Sox celebrated Derek Jeters career in a pregame ceremony on Sunday, and the retiring Yankees captain repaid the gesture by producing another memorable afternoon. Jeter ripped four hits, including a triple, and drove in two runs to support a strong Masahiro Tanaka effort as the Yankees concluded their week-long visit to Chicago with a 7-1 victory over the White Sox at U.S. Cellular Field. Tanaka bounced back from his first Major League loss to hold the White Sox to a run and five hits over 6 2/3 innings, improving to 7-1 with a 2.29 ERA. The effort gave New York a split of the four games played on the South Side; the Yankees and Cubs split a two-game series at Wrigley Field to start the trip. Fueled by Jeters first four-hit game since Aug. 20, 2012, which also came against the White Sox in Chicago, the Yankees roughed up Andre Rienzo for five runs (four earned) and seven hits over five innings. Brett Gardner ripped a two-run single, Jeter knocked a run-scoring single and Jacoby Ellsbury lifted a sacrifice fly in a four-run second inning, giving Tanaka a quick lead on his way to a season-high 118-pitch outing. The Yankees added a run in the fourth when Jeter legged out his first triple since 2011, then slid home safely when Rienzo bounced a curveball for a wild pitch. Jeter also knocked a run-scoring single facing Javy Guerra in the sixth, then struck out in the eighth. Tanaka, who walked two and struck out six with a hit batsman, has logged a quality start in all 10 of his big league outings. The White Sox scored their only run off him in the sixth, as Tyler Flowers doubled and scored on a Conor Gillaspie single. Brian Roberts added a solo home run, his second of the season, off Scott Carroll in the eighth.
