Dereks Birding, 5/12: Florida Lake Park and The Brad. Another - TopicsExpress

Dereks Birding, 5/12: Florida Lake Park and The Brad. Another day, and another day at FLP for Katrina, Jeannette, and I. And thanks to another strong nocturnal migration, today was most definitely a good day! Between the three of us, we tallied 18 species of warblers, led by Yellow-rumps (33+), but also including good numbers of Black-throated Green and Magnolia. Our first 3 Canada Warblers of the year were noted. Least Flycatchers, Black-throated Blue Warblers, and American Redstarts were among the species that increased overnight. At The Brad, it was hot! And birds were already high. By noon, 30 birds had been tallied, led by immature Broad-winged Hawks. While many birds were really high overhead, down lower, Blackburnian Warblers were putting on a particularly good show. At the store, a female Ruby-throated Hummingbird arrived, and at home yesterday evening, a LINCOLNS SPARROW (FOY) was an unexpected addition to our yard list.
