Dermatillomania is a nervous disorder that is not well known, but around 4% of the population suffer from it to one degree or another. Around 14% of Dermatollomaniacs are men, with the other 86% being women. Im glad to say that I have nearly cured myself of the habit, only now that I have learnt what it is. Please spread this post around so that other people may know that this is, and that its something that others contend with and suffer from, and there are ways to helping ourselves stop. Because despite some people seeing me do it, I would never bring it up as I thought it wasnt something that anyone really did. And Id do it more for fear of judgement of having the marks. Another similar disorder is Trichotillomania, which involves the pulling and removal of hair, generally from the head. And it too is not well known, though more that Dermatillomania.
