Descartes, Kierkegaard and Kant walk into a bar. To their surprise Hegel is the barman. Can I get you gentlemen anything to eat or drink? Descartes responds, I think not. *poof* He disappears. Kierkegaard, a little taken aback, says, Illl have a steak actually. Would you like chips or salad with that? Hegel asks. Both. Sorry, its either / or. Kant, after watching all this is still indecisive. He says, well maybe Ill just have a drink. Can I have a pepsi maxim. Hegel responds, absolutely. When it comes time to pay Kierkegaard and Kant realize theyve forgotten their wallets. Hegel sternly asks, whos going to pay for this? They then notice Nietzsche, Schopenhauer and Roussea at the end of the bar. Nietzsche and Schopenhauer pipe up, we will. They generally do, Roussea adds. Suddenly Heidegger rushes in, I need a drink as quick as you can. Hegel responds, what would you like? Whatever is ready-to-hand. At the back, in a dark corner of the bar they notice Marx, surreptitiously sipping a champaign cocktail. Surprised that Marx would drink such a specific drink Kierkegaard asks, why do they put a sugar cube in those things anyway? Marx responds, I dont know, I just like how all that is solid melts into air. Derrida and Deleuze come in and order, Ill have a red wine please? Hegel: a cabernet-savignon or cabernet-merlot? Whats the differance? Derrida responds. Repeat that for me, Deleuze adds. Husserl, Sartre and Jean-Luc Marion come in, Marion is wearing a bright new jacket. They hear the tail end of their conversation, Husserl is complimenting Marions jacket, that jacket is phenomenal! Marion replies, thank you, but all I know is that its saturated. Sartre adds in, it was raining outside so we chose to get wet. Just then the building inspector came in, it was Richard Rorty, Im sorry Hegel, but Ive got to tell you the foundations on this building arent substantial - thats okay though. Wittgenstein walks in carrying a beetle.
