Describe how you would integrate math and science into other areas of the classroom and into other subject areas. Give specific examples. I would provide the toys and supplies for the children to play and manipulate, learn spacial relations between things, learn one-to-one correspondence, cause and effect, and other concepts of Math and Science. I will create the atmosphere in a classroom that will stimulate scientific inquiries and math activities in students. I will create math/science centers and also will integrate the science concepts into other centers. For the blocks/building center I will provide the cards with the examples of the buildings to construct and the patterns to create; so that the children can look on the cards and create similar patterns or count the blocks. There also will be beads to make necklaces, count, etc. For the art center I will provide different media and also color chips from the store. So the children will be looking on different hues of the same color and learn the varieties of colors. I can conduct the activity, when children are painting all the hues of green, red, blue, etc. I will conduct the activity, when students can mix colors and see what happened. Different kinds of paper, with different texture will be good too. I will incorporate math in the social skills centers, like: store center, mail/post office, etc. Children will be counting letters; they need to deliver or “money” to pay for shopping at the store. I will put clock in a home center, so that “mommy and daddy” will know the time to go to work, eat dinner, etc.I will play game of “What car is running faster” with the kids in the cars center. Will the small car be faster, or the bigger car slower, etc. In the animals center I will create the habitats for different animals, so that the children will learn bases of biology and geography. Also I will bring the globe there too and a map of the world, where it is noted in what part of the world, there are certain species habituating. Circle time area of the room is going to have a calendar with the weather, days of the week, month, year, etc. There will also be a thermometer, to check the temperature, inside and outside of the classroom. Also there will be binocular to look on the clouds, in the sky, etc. I will get the aquarium and the fish for the classroom. A cage with the hamster may be brought to the classroom too. Outside, on a play area I would create a vegetable garden and flower beds for the children to take care of. That will teach them biology, botany and many other concepts.
