The original version of the play is by Nikolai Gogol and is about an inspector who comes to town and turns out to be duping everyone. This is not that play. This is a play of actors imitating that play. Yes, a play about a group of actors faking a play that is about faking it. It might sound complicated, it’s actually just hilarious.
