Design of new Headquarters for a Chinese cosmetics company in the city of Hangzhou. Due to rapid growth, the client needs to bring the company together into a single HQs, and build a continuous and open workplace that embodies its work flow. The project site faces mountain, the city is beautiful, the use of outdoor space is essential. The massing is deformed to bring daylight into courtyard and to offer mountain view to more spaces. The client favored this scheme over other three schemes, but rejected it at the end because it “looked” expensive and less efficient. It would have been nice to have opportunity to rationalize the space and the cost. #rejectedbyclient
