Despite an outpouring of opposition -- from a number of prominent recycling companies, hundreds of citizens, and a broad array of sustainability organizations, the Indianapolis Board of Public Works voted to advance a very controversial plan related to recycling. It is regrettable that the emerging, alternative vision -- which would have led to more jobs & allowed Indianapolis to showcase best-in-class practices -- did not get transparent consideration.
