Despite entering the season picked to finish last in the conference in the Hockey East preseason coaches poll, the Northeastern mens ice hockey team caught the attention of the league and the nation in 2013-14. After going 19-14-4, reaching the Beanpot title game for the third time in four seasons and returning to the Hockey East playoffs for the first time in three years, the Huskies have reinstalled a standard of expectations for NU teams in the future. Northeastern finished the season ranked 19th in the USCHO poll, and was ranked as high as ninth on two occasions this year, NUs highest ranking since the end of the 2008-09 season. The Huskies were also 18th in the final PairWise ranking, narrowly missing an at-large bid to the national tournament.
