Despite sore throat and headache, my intention was to collect a constructive dialogue report, supposed to be realeased today I rushed to the venue. Constitution and the contents with political perspectives were aired on. Everything went well, no doubt ! Dalits, muslims and other marginalized issues were well discussed but so called intellectual level leader outlet the dubious nature when he had to speak about identity based federalism and one madhes one pradesh. How identity has been defined...pletely two fold perspective was presented by the single person in political language. Janajatis definition of identity was swallowed and started his definition...when newars say for newa rajya it becomes jatiya rajya...and he tried to rumour it a jatiya rajya because Newa word denotes Newar as a whole but he didnt perhaps know Newar as a nationality than an ethnicity having separate and distinct characteristics. He then narrowed it to the concept of caste. He didnt even know jat and jati as nationality rather sqeezed in ethnicity and and jat and jati was again intermingled with caste. At the very moment he made the audience so confused about jati, jatiya rajya and pahichan sahitko rajya. I was amazed at what a politics of party leaders in our country. He in the began said he had reservation on identity based federalism and in the middle he said he didnt have any grudge against identity based federalism.. Each and every leader and anti identity federalist has defined identity on their own ways that how a janajati has understood it, how an excluded, marginalized group has defined it as. Neither they have ever shown their interest to go through the rights enshrined in the international instruments. A personal perspective vs nation as the state party to the international instruments and rights adopted there. I doubt, besides very few party leaders, most party leaders are not even aware that the constitution will be an outcome document that will establish peace mandated by the comprehensive peace accord....party leaders have kept it aside from their mind and barely getting on with that the constituton is a collective party manifesto which will only be possible on their consensus and on their willingness.
