Despite the advancement of human intelligence, we cannot change nature. Trying to change nature can only result in self destruction. We need to focus on knowing and fulfilling our true nature instead of trying to make what is temporary seemingly permanent. Religion is being used to divert the focus of human consciousness. There is a deliberate attempt to erase the reality of the spirit by transforming its reality into unconscious matter. This alters our consciousness of reality. We tend to become engrossed with objects and mystical ideas instead of a living consciousness that we can actually experience. In so doing, human consciousness is exploited and kept in the dark of its true nature.
