Despite the efforts of Christian conservatives to pervert and twist U.S. history to satisfy their religious superstition, the fact remains Moses was not the first American, and America is not a Christian nation. Children deserve the truth. I dont really concern myself with what others believe in. Jesus, Buddha, Krishna ... Shit, you can pray to the Easter Bunny or Santa Claus for all I care. Whatever gets you through the night. But the particulars of your specific religion have no place in the curriculum of *our* public education system, a system meant to serve an America made up of many different people of many different faiths. You dont have to believe in their God. And they or their children sure as hell dont have to believe in yours. Lest we forget, one of the primary reasons this country was founded in the first place was to escape religious persecution. For people to live in a land where theyd be free to worship who they pleased, how they pleased and where they pleased. Trying to force uniformity of religion in our society and empowering civil authorities to enforce it if necessary (and dont kid yourself—thats exactly what these extremist douchebags are attempting to do) is DIAMETRICALLY OPPOSED to what were supposed to be about in the first place. Its as un-American a point of view as anyone could possibly have. If you cant see that, if you dont agree that its as wrong as wrong can be, then you are a clueless, useless asshole, and I dont give a single, solitary shit if this offends you. On the contrary, I sincerely hope it does.
