Despite the many things that went wrong with the event, there were a few things and people I want to praise about the event. I ran into a lot of NPCs throughout the day who told me they had no idea what they were supposed to be doing. Some of you guys took the extra effort to make something up on the spot to give questers something fun and engaging to do. Thank you. People with your initiative are the heart and soul of Amtgard. Santiago and Faith, as the Mermaid and her dashing… (whatever Santiago was), added a lot of fun and good humor to the beginning of the event, helping restore good attitudes after people got grumpy about the four hour wait. Goblins. Angela was my favorite goblin, but all of you guys were excellent, both the ones in the woods (swamp?) and the ones in the maze. I heard a lot of good things about you guys in both encounter areas from several different groups. Thank you for keeping our players entertained. Also, thank you for letting me sell you to the Banker. The banker should also get a lot of credit for showing a lot of flexibility in handling quester ingenuity. I never heard him tell people no or to stick to the script. Bring him a boat, a matching set of goblins, or a dead dwarf (side note: I think red team is guilty of genocide) and he would figure out a price and roll with it. I think this really helped people make their own fun and contributed to a number of teams finding ways to enjoy the event. Zach as the harbormaster also really pulled out all the stops. He seemed like the hardest working man in show business. Our team never did a quest for him, but I caught his patter several times as my group trooped past for one reason or another. Good work, Zach. I also feel like we owe an apology to some of our more distant visitors. Im sorry you guys drove five (or more!) hours each way and didnt get to play. We were extremely happy to have people come so far to one of our events! Come down to our next event and the Wetlands will definitely show you a good time.
