Detectives based at Saltcoats Police Office are appealing for witnesses following a robbery in Dalry on New Years Day. Officers were called to Coral bookmakers New Street, Dalry at around 4.50pm on Thursday 1 January 2015 to reports that a male had entered the premises armed and stolen a three figure sum of money. The male is described as being approximately 5’08”, medium build wearing a dark green/brown Parka style jacket with a fur trimmed hood, dark coloured trousers, dark coloured footwear and a scarf covering his face. Staff were uninjured during the incident but were left shaken. Detective Sergeant John Deans of North Ayrshire CID commented: “This type of incident is uncommon and although the staff members were shaken by the ordeal, thankfully no one was injured.” We would like to hear from anyone who recognises the description of the male involved or who were in the New Street area of Dalry around this time and may have observed anything suspicious.” “We have additional patrols in place and we are providing crime prevention advice to bookmakers”.
