Detox by Design by Dr Espen Hjalmby Following our last Power Seminar “Supercharge your energy and enjoy inspired relationships” the feedback has been overwhelming. In response to emails and facebook messages I have typed up the details of the juice detox I will be doing starting Monday 9th September. The detoxification process lasts for 5 (or 7) days. A juice detoxification process is one of the simplest and most powerful ways to detox naturally! It includes both the processes of restriction and elimination, but without limiting nutritional intake. Cool huh! Starting first thing Monday morning the only thing I will consume is cold pressed (organic) vegetable juice and supergreens water. To make you supergreens water, just add your supergreens powder and organic lemon or lime to your filtered water. The supergreen powder Panexa may be purchased from Bonfire Jindalee or at any health food store. This detox is both challenging for our self-discipline and mental state as well as for our body. As you might understand, this detoxification process is not for everyone. (As detox symptoms are expected and may vary, Bonfire takes no responsibility for any adverse outcomes following such a cleansing process). OK, Detoxers, here is it: Starting Sat or Sun Harvesting your vegetables: Find out what organic markets are close to you, and bring cash. You may get different vegetables depending on what you like to eat. For my detox, I have selected the following: Kale, silverbeet, spinach, carrot, ginger, lemon, beetroot, cucumber, turmeric and mint. If you need some sugar, you may add one of the following per 500ml of juice: Apple, pear, orange or a piece of watermelon. How to clean you vegetables: Always remember to wash and clean your vegetable before juicing them. This becomes even more important if your produce is not organic. To rid your vegies of pesticides and other harmful chemicals, wash your sink before adding clean water and 1 small cup of apple cider vinegar. Let soak for 5 minutes before scrubbing. Dry, dice and you’re ready to juice. How to store: Detoxers please note that cold pressed juice needs to be stored in the fridge as the enzyme activity remains at its highest for the first 72 hours (meaning that your food is still alive). You may juice daily, but this may vary depending on time availability etc. Juicing every second day is recommended. What to expect: What goes in must come out. As many of us spend years putting food like products in our bodies that might not serve us, there are many elements that are stored in our fat that needs to come out in order for us to increase our internal wellbeing. Expect side effects such as headaches, body odour, emotional changes, lethargy, sleeping difficulties and strong food and sugar cravings. If you experience any of these, the detox if working WHOO HOO! PLEASE NOTE: People with diabetes and other health concerns; consult your Bonfire physician or GP before commencing.
