Detroits police chief says his department needs stun guns, especially after an officer was attacked with a razor blade. Chief James Craig tells The Detroit News that hes talked to the mayor about purchasing Tasers. He acknowledges theyre controversial and is open to a public discussion about their use. Craig says an officer was cut in the face several times with a razor Saturday while trying to speak to a woman at a house. Craig believes even the threat of a stun gun would defuse many volatile situations. Craig says the woman calmed down when she saw that officers at a state-run detention center had stun guns.
