Development Intern - Hubbard Street Dance Chicago General Description: Unpaid internship designed to provide professional experience working administratively for one of Chicago’s leading cultural institutions. Hubbard Street interns take on high-level projects and are welcome to participate in staff meetings with executive leadership. Interns generally work 3 – 4 days per week, 6 – 8 hours a day during regular business hours. Schedules can be customized based on interns’ schedules. Development Department: Hubbard Street’s Development department is comprised of the Chief Marketing and Development Officer and four full-time staff members. Together the group is responsible for raising contributed revenue of more than $3.5 million. Hubbard Street’s development department supports all components of the organization including the main company, Hubbard Street 2 (HS2), Hubbard Street Youth & Community Program and the Lou Conte Dance Studio. Duties and Responsibilities: Assist with event planning and working alongside staff at events to cultivate donors Assist with organization and execution of annual fund mailings Assist with donor acknowledgement and donor perk mailings Package and sending grant proposals Prospect Research- individuals, corporations, foundations Update board members’ records in Tessitura database (Hubbard Street will provide training) Create Board orientation binders Record development expenses in Excel Various data entry projects using Tessitura database Draft grant proposals and reports General filing Other duties as assigned Skills & Qualifications: Applicants should possess excellent organizational and communication skills. The successful candidate will be detail-oriented with the desire to learn and a team attitude. Experience with Microsoft Office applications is preferred.
