Development Management: An Alternative Approach:: Nineteen years ago, i.e. in early 1992, as both development policy makers and practitioners at all levels in the country were preoccupied with the search for durable and appropriate participatory development management mechanisms, processes, procedures and systems with the object to arousing and ensuring community participation for sustainable human, socio-economic and institutional development, because the ones in vogue then, to say the least, were as suboptimal as fraught with problems, I use to work for a National NGO “Gambia Rural Development Agency” (GRUDA) and was as equally concerned as involved in the search. However, being the local and traditionally inclined (home grown) practitioner I was and continue to be, I looked inwards (introspectively).
