Devotion 23.08.2014 Topic: The other side of the spiritual breakthrough (God Will give you more than you can carry) One of my friends Myles wrote an amazing song called Spirit break out which is used all over the world by many worship teams. Do you want to see the spirit break though in your life? I think, the first thing the spirit has to do, is breath through the wall the we have built up. Jesus has come to set the captives free, that we would see the fullness of his Kingdom break through in our lives. But unless you let him break through the boundaries you have put up in order to provide you a sense of control and security, you will not see any kind of breakthrough. If you were to have a spiritual breakthrough, you have to ask yourself, what are you breaking through into? We need to open our eyes and see what the other side of the breakthrough looks like. Most people want a spiritual breakthrough so that God will come and fix the situation, make them feel good so that they can return to that place of comfort. In Matthew 4 Jesus was in the desert being tempted by the devil, he was tempted in a time of hunger to turn rocks into bread, he replied It is written, “Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God.” - Matthew 4:4. Jesus had to experience the wilderness to realise the only source of real strength is the word of God, his breaking through to the next level of anointing had nothing to do with comfort, but it had everything to do with becoming closer to God. The other side of your spiritual breakthrough looks like Jesus denying all provision and power for the sake of the Kingdom of God, it looks like Peter stepping out onto the water, it looks like Stephen preaching the Gospel even when they stoned him, it looks like you and me living beyond what we see in our bank account, it looks like you and me going into the deepest and darkest places in this world and shining the light of the Gospel. Are you really sure you want a spiritual breakthrough, because I have heard my whole life God will never give you more that you can carry where is that in the bible? There are all kinds of things that happen that we cannot bear. We contract fatal illnesses. We suffer the death of loved ones. Sometimes our lives come crashing down around us. If God will only give us what we can carry, then why do we need him? If we can already walk on the waters then why do we need to step out of the boat? Matthew 11:28–30 • “Come to me, all you who are struggling hard and carrying heavy loads, and I will give you rest. Put on my yoke, and learn from me. I’m gentle and humble. And you will find rest for yourselves. My yoke is easy to bear, and my burden is light.” CEB (Commonn English Bible) The reality is that breaking through means that you will experience things that you cannot handle alone, that you cannot do without giving him control but do not fear, search that breakthrough, give Him control, because the other side of the breakthrough is the blessed life, not the comfortable life! The life touched by the finger of God where you live beyond what you can handle alone.
