Diane shared a success story! Just a little thing that made me smile today - at our mums & tots group this morning, a friend asked if I would hold her young baby (about 5 months old) while she accompanied her 2 year old to the bathroom. Its a large group, so leaving him on the floor wasnt an option. Anyway, he was a bit upset. I acknowledged that he sounded upset, told him my name & explained where his mum was and that she would be back after the bathroom visit. He continued grizzling & crying, chewing his fingers, so I acknowledged that it looked like his teeth were hurting. He cried louder, so I kept expressing my appreciation of his dilemma, that I would be right there for him until his mum came back. In the space of a minute, he stopped crying, snuggled into my neck and was almost asleep. His mum was surprised as he was a purple-faced, upset & pained little boy when she left! Again I reiterate - IT WORKS!!
