Did Al Qaeda or Jihdai Muslims carry out the 30 October 2008 - TopicsExpress

Did Al Qaeda or Jihdai Muslims carry out the 30 October 2008 serial blasts in Assam? Exactly six years ago, today, Assam suffered one of the worst terror strike that India had ever faced. In a series of 11 near-simultaneous bomb blasts across several urban locations, 88 civilians were killed. Three of those worst blasts occurred in Guwahati. Some of the top police officials, including the present DGP (who was then the IG, Special Branch), immediately claimed this to be the handiwork of Islamic Jihadis. Only when the investigation was taken over by the CBI, the truth was exposed. It was not any Islamic Jihadi, but the Bodo Militant Group NDFB that had carried out the blasts. CBI later chargesheeted its Chairman Ranjan Daimary, who was in hiding (ironically, in Bangladesh) as the prime accused. It was thanks to the Sheikh Hasina Govt in Bangladesh who cracked down on the NE militants, caught Ranjan Daimary and handed him over to India to face trial. The disturbing questions that arises are these: When the NDFB had carried out this shocking terror attack, it was actually in ceasefire with the government, with its cadres supposedly living in designated camps under the watch of the police and our intelligence/security agencies. Yet, Ranjan Daimary could slip into Bangladesh and their cadres continued to slip in and out of Bangladesh. Even the detonators for the blasts were smuggled in from Bangladesh by NDFB. How could this happen under the watch of the police and multiple intelligence/security agencies? Ranjan Daimary was a prime accused in 13 cases, including several massacres besides the 30 October 2008 serial blasts. Yet, the government provided him with a cell phone in jail and was also given bail and released on 17 July 2013, apparently for peace talks. Can someone imagine peace talks with Kasab or Yasin Bhatkal? It has taken an enormous effort and relentless pressure on the government to have NDFB (Ranjan Daimary)s group continued ceasefire violations and involvement in acts of terror on to record to have his bail cancelled on 29 September 2014, just last month, and have him put back behind bars. Can all those who have been peddling the myth of existential threat from Islamic Jihadis, Al Qaeda etc tell me about even one single terror attack Assam has faced from any Islamic Jihadis in the decades of violence and terror attack that Assam has witnessed?
