Did Jesus come to bring peace on earth? If He did, I must say that it is not really working. It seems as though in the name of tolerance, people have become less tolerant than ever before. Especially towards Christians. Im not saying that some critics of Christians dont have legitimate complaints. There are those that judge harshly. There are those whose lives are inconsistent with the teachings of the Bible. There are those who in the name of Christ just dont live up to the name of Christ. Like me. I dont. Not all the time. Its called sin. But whats funny is no one else lives up to their moral code either. We all say and believe things that we quite frankly do not live up to. But the world is not a peaceful place and until He returns it will not be. Pray for peace? Pray for His return. Jesus, Himself, said that He would divide people. Matthew 10:34-37 NIV “Do not suppose that I have come to bring peace to the earth. I did not come to bring peace, but a sword. For I have come to turn “ ‘a man against his father, a daughter against her mother, a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law— a man’s enemies will be the members of his own household.’ “Anyone who loves their father or mother more than me is not worthy of me; anyone who loves their son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me. That sound like Baby Jesus in the Manger? At Christmas we sing about peace on earth and goodwill towards men. But that peace is the peace that we can have with God. Our broken relationship with Him because of sin makes us at war with God. Jesus Christ is the ONLY way to God. We must be in Jesus to have that peace. And He will give you peace in your struggles. Your family a mess? Give them to God. They hate your faith? Pray harder. They want to live without you judging them? Then tell them not to leave the mess on your doorstep or in your living room. Lord, Jesus, we pray for Your Holy Spirit to guide us today. We pray for the family members who are at war over You and the lives we should live. Bless us today while we live to bless You and glorify You. In Jesus Name.
