Did You Know Our Very Own Tanya Sullivan (911 Dispatch) played a part in giving Reese Witherspoon her big break! Prior to working as a 911 Communications Specialist for the Lakeland Police Department, Tanya was a motion picture casting director having worked on over 50 film and television shows. Tanya was instrumental in casting Reese Witherspoon in her first film, Man in the Moon. She has worked with such notable actors as Richard Gere, Jodie Foster, Willem Defoe, Anthony Hopkins, Cuba Gooding, Jr. and on some blockbuster hits such as Passenger 57, Sandlot and Instinct. Tanya left the entertainment industry to find a career with better benefits and retirement so she settled down in Lakeland and took on the job as an Emergency Communications Specialist. Tanya Sullivan is one of our Emergency Communications Specialists and is the first line of communication between the public and the Police, Fire, and EMS field units. She has been a dispatcher for 14 years and has become a master of communication - listening, hearing, and communicating critical, sometimes life-saving information quickly, accurately, and effectively. Being an emergency dispatcher is not a career for everyone, but for those that enjoy a work environment full of challenges, it is very rewarding.
