Did not feel like cooking tonight but not up for an adventure either but where to go ?? Somewhere comfy with good food, nothing fancy yet not looking for the typical pizza restaurant. Ah Ha ! We decided to try Frankie & Johnnys on Main St in Hurleyville and OH BOY are we glad we did ! Arrived around 6 PM, right before the Saturday night dinner crowd. So glad we came early ! Place packed as we were leaving but we were seated right away. Crisp white linens on the table, bus boy immediately approached with a pitcher of water and our menus . Large selection but not TOO large (some restaurants offer you a book the size of a dictionary, no good for someone like me who has trouble choosing). Do to the fact that F & Js is notorious for their large portions, we decided to skip appys and ordered our mains: a pasta scecial for Joh, consisting of Baked Ziti, Manicotti and Stuffed Shells . I decided on the traditional Eggplant Parm. Our salads arrived almost immediately , nice assortment of veggies in it, I had blue shees dressing, Joh opted for Balsamic Vin and EVOO. Nice large loaf of crispy Italian bread was a nice touch. By this time most all the tables in the place were filled with happy diners chatting and enjoying their meals. When out main dishes arrived, we took our time and enjoyed a leisurely dinner. Sauce on my side of spagetti was Marinara and I loved it ! Fresh tomatos in it, no acid-y taste from any of the dishes, each one its own flavor and absolutely good good good . Meals + beverages came to a little under $40, but keep in mind that we did not go for the appys or dessert. I would recommend this place to anyone, suggest you prepare yourself for the possibllity of a 15 min wait on Fri-Sat-Sun night. As we were leaving, I spotted a man with a huge plate of mussels , next time I will give them a try, they looks AMAZING !!
