Did some reading on Ukraine. It seems like there is a very big problem looming over in the EU, it seems that Ukraine is in need of $40 Billion to survive, yes BILLION. Harper and Baird have kicked in $200,000 which will do sweet f--k all for this problem. Kerry and the US have brought $1 billion to the table. The EU will have to anti up $40 Billion to save Ukraine, which I doubt it will. Then there is Putin and Russia and the long term relationship that has existed between the two countries. Putin is no idiot and is playing a political game with the western world, nobody wants war and no matter how much grandstanding the west and its leaders come up with, it all boils down to money. Ukraine was a soviet state and to all intents, it still is, but it has become divided between the Ukrainian speaking west and the Russian speaking east and south. Look, Ukraine cant pay its bills and Putin knows that, the EU is having a big enough problem keeping its head above water and certainly cannot afford to subsidize the Ukraine to the tune of $40 Billion. At the end of the day Putin will win because the EU, US and Canada, who seem to be the players, just dont have the money to spend help a divided country called Ukraine. Now if the grandstanding continues Putin will just sit back and watch as the US and Canada provide lip service to the problem which is between Russia and the EU and nothing to do with North America. Putin can shut off the natural gas supply to Ukraine for non payment of gas bills whenever he wants and when you think of it Germany, France and Italy are also dependent on Russian gas so they cant do too much saber rattling. This is total stupidity from Obama and Harper, there is absolutely nothing they can do, no amount of flag waving will solve this problem. Obama and Harper are using this situation to create a deterrent to the internal problems of the US and Canada. Obama and Harper sanctions against Russia is laughable because EU cant afford to save Ukraine by admitting it into the EU. Putin is holding all the aces, Ukraine will resort back to a soviet state and Crimea will become another soviet state separate from Ukraine, Putin is no fool and is setting up Russia to be run without interference from US and Canada. Obama can stop drawing lines on the ground and Harper can stop grandstanding for Ukrainian votes here in Canada. Putin is the only winner in this game, sure its old time soviet politics but read the history books Russia collapsed but is now rebuilt without outside money and is a world power in everything that the world needs.
