Did the tourist thing around Exmouth and the surrounding area - TopicsExpress

Did the tourist thing around Exmouth and the surrounding area today and arent there some very nice places. We are staying in the Big 4 caravan park but you have to beware of the local park emus as they will take what ever food they can from anyone in the park. We even saw one putting its head into the tent of some campers. Went to Pebble Beach where the whole beach is made of coloured pebbles. Went past the Harold Holt Naval Base and the number of high transmission towers they have is incredible. Hate to think what they are all used for. Went to Bundegi Beach where everything was so calm with boats at the boat ramp, people snorkeling and swimming and then we drove the short distance to the other side of the peninsula to Vlamingh Head Light House and it was blowing a gale. Could not believe the white caps compared to the other side. A reef was out from the shore and the kite surfers and the sail boarders were having a ball. There are even sand bags near the look out that have been there since WW11. Also there is the anchor of the SS Mildura that ran aground at the cape in 1907. We then drove to the cape and saw the remaining wreckage of the SS Mildura and were quite surprised as how close it was to the beach. Again, the wild flowers were at their best along this section of town. Some beautiful boats in the marina. I am prepared for the sarcastic comments on the last photograph of me standing next to the large prawn at the Exmouth Information Centre. Off tomorrow to spend a few days in the Cape Range National Park.
