Did you attend my first ever Webinar yesterday? Wow … it was quite amazing to see the room fill to capacity within the first few minutes. We have to cut it off at 499 which left ?? people out. I didnt see this question until it was over, so Ill respond here: Dineen Brook from Livingston Louisiana asked: If it takes all of your paycheck to meet monthly bills how do you start saving?? Dear Dineen: If it takes all of your paycheck to meet your monthly bills, you HAVE to reduce your bills so that you can save some of that paycheck. Saving trumps everything. Give yourself a $20 rule for the next paycheck. Before you look at one bill, before you spend one dollar, take $20 off the top and put it away in a safe place. If you do not have a savings account, seal it in an envelope and ask your most trustiest friend to put it away for you. There. Now you cannot spend it. You may miss a couple of meals or have to walk a few times this week. Or give up cable TV, make your own coffee, stop downloading, or I could go on and on. I am going to bet that at least $20 leaks out of everyone of your paychecks and that you do not know where every dollar of your paycheck goes. You say bills but how are you defining that? Until you make saving the #1 first thing you do when you get a paycheck, you will spend every nickel of it and wonder where in the world it went. Five years from now you still wont have any savings. Thats because if you wait to save what is leftover each week, there will never be anything left over. Never. Thanks for coming to the Webinar. It was so much fun I cant wait to do it again!
