Did you ever want to adopt a BLM mustang or burro but couldnt - TopicsExpress

Did you ever want to adopt a BLM mustang or burro but couldnt afford the high transportation costs? Then check out the Canon City, Co Facility. We are trying to get a group of adopters, within the New England Area to adopt from the same facility, for a full load, 10 horses and/or burros, to be delivered to Two Hearts Mustang Wellness Center in Rehoboth, MA for Spring 2015. We have 4 adopters so far and need 4-6 more to help make transporting them from Co to MA affordable, the more adopters the cheaper the shipping fee will be. Adopters are responsible for transporting their horse or burro from the drop off location to their new home. There are several transport groups on FB for those who dont have their own stock trailers. The Canon City facility will pay for the first 150 miles per horse. A group of volunteers helped to arrange with CO BLM office for a load delivered to NC about a week and a half ago. There was 9 horses in the load so the BLM paid for 1350 miles of the total 1650 mile trip. The portion of the shipping cost that adopters paid was about $123.00 per horse. Heres the volunteers website for Canon City. The photos of available horses - Mares, Geldings, Weanlings, Halter Trained and Burros are updated about once a month as needed or when they have been adopted. Adoption fee is $125 per horse or burro or $350 if they are already halter trained. Information about the shipping process is also posted in its own tab and there is a clickable button on the home page to learn how to adopt which takes you to the BLM how to adopt page, that explains the process and requirements for shelter and fencing. If you see a horse thats available now, you can call the CO BLM office and speak to Lona Kossnar at 1-719-269-8539 about putting a hold on that horse for you, this means you will have to pay board until the horse ships in the spring at $4.00 a day ($120 a month) or $7.00 a day ($210 a month) if you want the horse halter trained while it is there. canoncitymustangs.weebly/ Please PM me if interested or with any questions and I will respond as quickly as I can. Feel free to share this post with any other horse groups you belong to.
